Book One in the Tales of Maroth
Five young friends on holiday in the Gwynant Valley, North Wales, explore a cave on the hill of Dinas Emrys and find themselves thrown back to the year 1511. There they meet the wizard Maroth and his companion, Merric; a visitor from a far off world who is stranded on Earth.
Together they journey to seek help from Elgrin, the powerful leader of the Wizards’ Council, where they learn of the Gateway of Time – their one hope of getting home. In their search for the gateway’s fabled key they encounter many dangers, greatest among them the evil necromancer Drascobal.
A classic tale of magic and adventure, a fast-moving story with a twist in the tale and a thrilling climax.

Bentley Carr says …
Taking into account the limitless amount of entertainment available today, I deliberately worked to ensure that the story was not overlong, and kept the momentum steady in the hope that the reader would not become too bogged down in detail and be tempted to reach for something else to occupy their time.
I have also tried to avoid the use of heavy dialogue, as from experience I know there is nothing more than getting into a story and constantly having to reach for the dictionary.
